Recording new series - Dr Michael Kranert

We’ve started recording for the new series - one a month (hopefully) from now on.

Just recorded an episode with Dr Michael Kranert of the University of Southampton. Look out for the episode in June! Good to welcome Michael back to the podcast - we last spoke with him way back in series 3, episode 2 on ‘Greenwashing’.

This time we discuss Michael’s article ‘The wickedness of net-zero policy: scales in policy discourse’, which is published in Critical Discourse Studies (open access/free download). Great chatting with Michael on the origins of the article, the theories and ideas he drew on - wicked problems, epistemological and ontological scales, textual trajectories and more.

Also very interesting to discuss the case study: how the EU programme ‘100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030’ was discussed, rejected and reborn in a local form in the city of Halle, Germany.

A ‘must listen’ for people working on CDA or critical policy discourse analysis and are interested in the research and writing process that Michael went through.
